XRP’s 48% Weekly Rally Cools as Traders Hit an Overbought Wall

XRP just did in a week what usually takes a market months, and the chart is now paying the price for moving that fast.

XRP surged roughly 48-50% over the past week, climbing from about $1.00 to a high near $1.70 before settling back to around $1.48. The move pushed its 14-day RSI, a momentum gauge scored 0 to 100 where readings above 70 typically signal overbought conditions, up to roughly 76-85 depending on the measurement window, its highest level since July 2025. A reading that stretched is less a warning of an imminent crash than a sign the rally ran hot: momentum indicators this extended tend to precede profit-taking and choppier price action even when the underlying trend stays intact.

The rally itself had real substance behind it, not just speculation. XRP had entered August at $1.06, down about 43% from its January high, after a fourth major boom-bust cycle that had erased nearly 73% of its value from a $3.65 peak down to $0.99. The rebound from that low tracked broader crypto strength alongside XRP-specific catalysts, including renewed ETF flow interest and continued attention on the CLARITY Act’s path through Congress.

The immediate technical question is whether the $1.50 to $1.55 range can now hold as support rather than resistance. If it does, a fresh push back toward $1.70 stays plausible; if it fails, the pullback from overbought territory has room to run further, particularly with ETF inflows already showing signs of slowing and no confirmed CLARITY Act timeline to provide a fresh catalyst in the near term.
