World Liberty Financial’s USD1 Launches Natively on Canton Network

USD1 has spent its short life arriving on other chains the way most stablecoins do, bridged in after the fact. On Canton, it’s issued directly, and that distinction is the entire point.

World Liberty Financial’s USD1 stablecoin is now live natively on Canton Network, an institutional blockchain built specifically for privacy-controlled settlement of tokenized real-world assets. Native issuance means USD1 isn’t arriving via a bridge from another chain, it’s minted directly on Canton, letting it settle in the same transaction as tokenized assets while using Canton’s built-in privacy and permissioning controls, features designed for institutions that can’t operate on a fully public, transparent ledger. The stablecoin is issued by BitGo Bank & Trust, which manages reserves and handles minting and redemptions.

The deployment had been telegraphed since December 2025, when Canton and World Liberty Financial first disclosed the plan while USD1 carried a market cap above $2 billion. The token has since grown to roughly $4.05 billion, making it the sixth-largest stablecoin by DeFiLlama’s count, and this native Canton deployment is aimed squarely at institutional use cases: derivatives collateral, institutional lending, and asset issuance and redemption, the unglamorous back-office plumbing of tokenized finance rather than retail payments or trading.

Canton has built its identity around exactly this niche, a settlement layer for institutions that need public-blockchain-style efficiency without giving up the privacy controls traditional finance requires. Getting a stablecoin with real scale to issue natively, rather than just accepting a bridged version, is a meaningful vote of confidence in that specific value proposition from one of the faster-growing dollar-backed tokens in the market.
