Ripple Backs XRPL Lending Amendments as XRP Jumps 17 Percent

XRP jumped 17% on the same news that most casual holders will never directly interact with: a validator vote on two proposals with names like XLS-65 and XLS-66.
Ripple voted in favor of both the Single Asset Vault (XLS-65) and Lending Protocol (XLS-66) amendments, moving the XRP Ledger a step closer to native onchain lending. XLS-65 creates a standard structure for pooling a single asset, XRP, Ripple’s own RLUSD stablecoin, or another XRPL-issued token, from multiple depositors, who receive proportional shares representing their claim on the pool. XLS-66 would then let that pooled liquidity fund fixed-term loans directly on the ledger.
The amendments aren’t close to activating yet. After the latest round, Single Asset Vault sits at roughly 40% validator consensus and Lending Protocol at just over 37%, both well short of the 80% threshold, or 28 of 35 trusted validators sustained for two weeks, that XRPL requires before any amendment goes live on mainnet.
Ripple’s backing carries real weight given the company’s role as a major XRPL contributor, but it’s one voice among many validators and can’t activate anything alone. What this actually signals is that native onchain lending infrastructure is a real, resourced priority for XRPL’s development roadmap, not that it’s about to ship.
