KSNET Brings Solana Pay to Over 330,000 Merchants in South Korea

More than 330,000 merchants in South Korea just got a lot closer to accepting crypto payments at checkout, without most of them needing to change a thing about how their payment terminals work.
Korean fintech payments processor KSNET has signed an agreement with the Solana Foundation to integrate Solana Pay across its merchant network, a partnership that covers more than 330,000 businesses nationwide according to the companies involved.
KSNET operates as a payment infrastructure provider in South Korea, handling transaction processing for a large base of retail and business merchants. Integrating Solana Pay at that infrastructure layer means individual merchants can potentially gain crypto payment acceptance through their existing processor relationship, rather than each business needing to independently adopt new hardware.
Solana Pay is a payment protocol built specifically for fast, low-fee transactions on the Solana blockchain, designed to let merchants accept stablecoins and other Solana-based assets with settlement times and costs competitive with traditional card processing rails.
South Korea has one of the world’s most active retail crypto trading populations, but retail trading activity and everyday point-of-sale payment acceptance are historically very different things. Infrastructure-level partnerships like this one are a more direct path toward closing that gap than hoping consumer demand pulls merchants toward crypto payments organically.
The scale of the announced merchant network is significant relative to prior crypto payment integration efforts, which have often launched with a small number of flagship retail partners rather than infrastructure-wide processor deals. Whether merchant-level adoption actually follows at meaningful volume remains the open question.
