A market maker best known for institutional liquidity just made a hire aimed squarely at Asia’s family offices instead.

B2C2, the institutional crypto market maker and liquidity provider, has appointed Jason Lai as a Senior Advisor based in Singapore. Lai built his reputation founding Thirdrock Group in 2009, which Schroders acquired in 2019, after which he ran and later chaired Schroders’ Asian Wealth Management unit until his departure earlier in 2026. The role is explicitly framed around deepening B2C2’s relationships with funds, asset managers, and family offices across the Asia-Pacific region.

B2C2 has spent a decade serving banks, exchanges, brokers, hedge funds, and asset managers with round-the-clock liquidity across spot, derivatives, structured products, and OTC markets. Bringing in a former traditional wealth management chairman rather than another trading-desk hire signals where the firm sees its next growth curve: not more institutional trading volume, but private wealth allocating into crypto for the first time.

Traditional wealth managers and family offices across Asia have been warming to digital assets, and a hire like this is a bet that the relationships built over a career in conventional private banking translate directly into crypto adoption once the right person is making the introduction.
