Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken All Push Deeper Into Tokenized Stocks in the Same Week

Three of crypto’s biggest exchanges just picked the same week to push hard into a market that, until recently, most of them barely touched: tokenized traditional equities.
Coinbase expanded its tokenized stock offering to more than 8,000 US equities through a new partnership with Yahoo Finance, dramatically widening the selection available to its users. Binance introduced its own tokenized securities product built through a partnership with Ondo Finance. Kraken, taking a different angle, launched tokenized perpetual futures tracking major indexes, commodities, and large-cap stocks rather than the underlying shares themselves.
The near-simultaneous timing suggests this is less coincidence than competitive response, once one major exchange visibly commits real infrastructure to equity tokenization, the pressure on its closest competitors to avoid ceding that ground intensifies quickly.
The three approaches are meaningfully different beneath the shared “tokenized stocks” label. Coinbase’s Yahoo Finance-powered offering leans toward broad retail access to a large basket of named equities. Binance’s Ondo Finance partnership plugs into infrastructure Ondo has already built specifically for bringing real-world assets on-chain. Kraken’s perpetual futures route sidesteps direct equity custody entirely, offering price exposure through a derivatives structure instead.
Tokenized equities have been a recurring theme across the industry this year, but a three-way competitive push from exchanges of this scale within the same week is a signal that at least some major platforms now see this as a genuine near-term growth category worth committing real product resources to, not just an experimental side offering.
