American Bitcoin Corp Posts Third Straight Quarterly Loss Despite Record Mining

Mining more Bitcoin than ever before didnt stop this company from posting its third straight quarterly loss, a gap that says a lot about where mining economics currently stand.
American Bitcoin Corp, the Trump-family-linked mining company, reported a $57 million loss for the second quarter of 2026 despite mining a record 932 BTC during the period and growing its total treasury 14% to 8,002 BTC, even as the spot price of Bitcoin fell roughly 12% over the same stretch.
Roughly 3,090 BTC, about 39% of the companys total treasury, is currently pledged as collateral under purchase agreements with Bitmain, the mining hardware manufacturer, meaning a meaningful share of the companys Bitcoin holdings arent fully unencumbered.
The disconnect between record production and a widening loss illustrates a dynamic playing out across the mining industry broadly this year: falling Bitcoin prices combined with elevated operating costs can outpace even genuinely strong output growth, especially for newer entrants still scaling up capital-intensive infrastructure.
Pledging a large share of Bitcoin holdings as loan collateral is a common financing strategy for growth-stage mining companies looking to expand hash rate without issuing new equity, but it also means a companys reported treasury figure doesnt always reflect assets that are fully available for the company to sell or deploy freely.
