BlackRock’s IBIT Keeps Leading Bitcoin ETF Inflows Into August

Whatever direction Bitcoin ETF flows move in any given week, one fund has consistently ended up leading the pack, and August has been no exception.
BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, IBIT, has led the renewed wave of Bitcoin ETF inflows in August, capturing the largest share of the $626 million pulled in across the ETF complex over the first three trading days of the month, part of a pattern that’s held since spot Bitcoin ETFs first launched. Across July, IBIT alone recorded roughly $350 million of net inflows even as the broader ETF category posted its weakest month on record.
IBIT’s continued dominance of both total assets and new flows reflects BlackRock’s scale advantages and distribution reach within traditional finance, giving it a default-choice position among institutional allocators adding Bitcoin exposure to conventional portfolios that smaller, newer entrants have struggled to match.
The fund’s resilience through July’s broader slowdown, continuing to add meaningful inflows even as the category overall posted its weakest month, suggests IBIT specifically may be benefiting from a flight-to-familiarity dynamic during more uncertain periods, with allocators favoring the largest, most established fund when overall conviction is lower.
IBIT’s performance this month sits alongside other funds also gathering business, including Fidelity’s FBTC and Franklin Templeton’s smaller EZBC, both of which have posted notable inflows of their own in recent sessions, suggesting the August rebound isn’t purely concentrated in a single dominant fund.
